Photo Essay: Spring Flowers

Updated: Oct 1, 2020

Now that the days are getting noticeably longer spring is about to arrive in full force and with it the first wildflowers of the year. Many of those are woodland plants which have to produce their flowers before the tree burst into leaf and block out the sunlight. In Ireland however many of those species have adapted to other habitats. For example the primrose thrives on overgrown stone walls along the coast and the wood anemone can be found on the open limestone of the Burren.
